Legal Entity what meaning of field Organization Number

Hi,
I'm using 12.1.3 and I'm creating a new Legal Entity in Accounting Setup Manager, in General Tab there is a field called 'Organization Number', it's a mandatory field.
What number should be put here? Any number?
what the purpose of this field?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
