Does archive logs purge automatically in FRA when log_archive_dest_x= defer on the primary..

I want to know if the archivelogs gets recycled/purged automatically  by Oracle in the FRA if I defer log shipping   for my standby?
i.e
log_archive_dest_1=enable (primary)
log_archive_dest_2=defer (standby) <--disabled log shipping for standby dest..

I have primary & standby Configuration and both on 11.2 with ASM and the archive logs on the FRA.
