row lock contention

 I heard about the row lock contention which oracle made (I talk about oracle 11g)  when 2 sessions try to update the same row in the same table

I want to read a lot about the lock mechanism and types of lock (row, table,user,....) (Explicit lock & implicit lock)

please talk me about this, or send me articles , notes, documentation
