Looking for a systematic way to accelerate depreciation on assets for a period of time on the GO FOR
As is the usual struggle, changing the asset life results in a current period adjustment for the amount relevant to past periods in the new life. I am looking for a way to accelerate only in current and future periods. We have played around with adding another asset or two, which accomplishes the goal, but is there Oracle standard functionality that can be used to accomplish more successfully and efficiently?
Example:
Current asset has 12 months remaining and $1.2M in NBV, depreciating at $100K a month. I want to accelerate over the next 3 months instead for $400K a month to achieve the $1.2M early without a current period adjustment to arrive at a zero NBV in 3 months. Changing the useful life of the asset is not an option because Oracle will calculate back depreciation adjustment for the shortened life.
