Upgrade Catalog

The version of RMAN catalog database is 11.2.0.1. I recently upgraded a database to latest 11.2.0.3. I got errors related to version when i tried to register. Can i safely run "upgrade catalog" command since my rman executable of target database is of later version than catalog. Do i need to upgrade RMAN catalog database to 11.2.0.3 as well? Appreciate your input!!
