The new opatch auto 11.2.0.3.2 offers the following benefits: 
 
1. Simpler and more comprehensive prereqs: 

# opatch auto -report

  
2. Easy to troubleshoot:
 
opatch auto always generates step file <GI_HOME>/cfgtoolslog/opatchauto<TIMESTAMP>.steps.log, it will contain the last failure command if opatch auto fails.    
 
 
3. Easy to see changes made to the system:
 
If opatch auto succeeds, <GI_HOME>/cfgtoolslog/opatchauto<TIMESTAMP>.steps.log will contain: 
 
o Configuration: List of GI and RAC homes and versions
o Changes made to system: List of all product commands that stop/start DB and stack, and list of 'opatch napply' commands to all homes  
  
 
4. Provides a context-senstive manual steps to apply the patch:
