Install Base Archiving

hI,

We currently have around 60 mn products in install base.And CSI schema constitutes 35% of the entire database.

Already saw that there are 2 open ERs on install base archiving in status of 15. Also saw that there is a program for Transactional History purge.But that is not sufficient enough.

We are thinking of some custom way of handling the archiving.What is the best approach to archive/purge install base data.? Please suggest.
