Tablespace and datafile restore, recovery with RMAN

edited Oct 18, 2012 9:37AM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered
It is my understanding that with RMAN I can do tablespace or datafile recovery without having to restore the whole database in order to save some time. And it is also my understanding that I can do tablespace and datafile recovery with the database in open state. However, when I try the test this, it is not working as expected.

I have ran the full database backup including archive logs and controlfile with rman. Then, I renamed one of the datafile name within one of the tablespace while the database is till in open state.

I then connect to rman with catalog and target and try to restore the tablespace.

Howdy, Stranger!
