AD.I patchset required question

Patch 8971151 requires 5472959 which in turn requires 4712852. The 4712852 is AD.I.4 patch whereas our current levels are AD.I.2.We do not want to upgrade AD.I patchset at the moment and proceed applying these patches.
Is this supported or we should not apply patches this way?
