Incorrect YTD computation for the current month

Hi Experts,
i've been trying to figure this out for days already but can't seem to find the reason why.

The calculation for a specific account is correct not until this month.

Currently, the computation for this account is Sep 2012 YTD (9 months) less Apr 2012- Aug 2012 (5 months)

But the correct computation is Sept 2012 YTD (9 months) less Aug 2012 (8 months).

I have not made any changes in the attributes for the account.

Is there any reason which I missed to check that could cause this behavior.

I would really appreciate your feedback.
