Oracle 11g R2 32 bit client on Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit silently fails during installation

Hi folks,
I am having trouble installing the aforementioned client on Win 7. I have happily installed the 64 bit version, due to some old software we require the 32 bit edition too.
After launching the OUI and passing prerequisites, right after installation start the OUI suddenly disappears. No logs written, nothing. Reproduced on two machines. The installer runs w/ admin privs. I have found the same exact problem on Oracle forums but hadn't any luck with the workarounds.

Has anyone experienced the same issue and was able to fix that? I guess I have ot file a SR.

My setup:
Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit, SP1
