TDE & Virtual Server

Hello Guru's,
Is the data in an encrypted tablespace on a virtual database server encrypted 'all the way down'.  The VMWare version is esxi 4.1. TDE is implemented using and HSM.  To clarify, when I say, 'all the way down', I mean to and including the VMWare files on physical disks.
