Cannot add material to work order

We can no longer add an item that is not attached to the asset BOM to a work order.  Typicall we navigate to the maintenance home page, pull up a work order, go the materials section and type in the item number  to be added to the work order.  If we knew the item was NOT on the BOM we would save it and then select the button Copy to Asset BOM.  Atempting to do any of these things now results in an error that kicks you out of the system.

We installed procurement patch  14254641:R12.PRC_PF.B over the weekend, this is the only thing that has changed.  Is it possible for this to cause the problem?
