kernel panic

Attmpted restart of system gives kernel panic.not syncing attempted to kill init!

init not tainted 2.6.39-200.34..elfuek.x86_64

I can boot off the cd, and have attempted to use the repair but getting prompted for information I don't know how to answer

attempted to "upgrade" to same version in order to recreate the bootloader which succeeded but still resulted in kernel panic after rebooting again..

.....

So, I entered GRUB and edited the profile to add parameter selinux=0 single

system came up single user, file systems are clean and all available in read/write OK across the board

init 3 (multi user) ok, logged in ok

Howdy, Stranger!
