 Hi AllWhen talking on Data Guard which it is a "regular" standby ( Not ASM / RAC)
I can use a simple service like:
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2=’SERVICE=payroll2’
OR
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2= ‘SERVICE=boston LGWR ASYNC
VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=boston’

OR a broker format:
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2=‘SERVICE="(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=
(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=cabrillo)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NA
ME=ocxlp01_cabrillo_XPT.world)(INSTANCE_NAME=ocxlp01)(SERVER=dedicated))
)"',' LGWR ASYNC NOAFFIRM delay=0 OPTIONAL max_failure=0
max_connections=1 reopen=300 db_unique_name="ocxlp01_cabrillo" register
net_timeout=180 valid_for=(online_logfile,primary_role)'

Howdy, Stranger!
