Hi All,

We are upgrading our web servers to 64 bit.

Current State:

OS: Windows 2003 (32 bit)

IIS: 6.0 (32 bit)

Planning to upgrade to:

OS: Windows 2008 (64 bit)

IIS: 7.5 (32 bit)

Oracle documentation states

Microsoft IIS 7.5 (32-bit) using IIS 6.0 compatibility mode

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11886_01/V8/CORE/SRSP_80/SRSP_80_ServerEnv6.html

We are not understanding, why we need to run IIS 6.0 Compatibility mode.

1. Why can't we run Microsoft IIS 7.5 (32-bit) using IIS 7.0 compatibility mode? Because IIS 7.0 is supported on the WINDOWS 2008 which we are upgrading to?

2. If we use 6.0 compatibility mode on IIS 7.5 running on Windows 2008, is it supported?

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Howdy, Stranger!
