How to create a new SO/CR Number from front end

Hi,

I want to know how to create a new SO/CR Number for an existing project, from front end application.

I am trying to update from front end Projects --> Setup but I got this below error.

"Unable to perform transaction on the record. \nCause: The record contains stale data. The record has been modified by another user. \nAction: Cancel the transaction and re-query the record to get the new data"

Has anyone encountered a similar error before.
