ASM storage: ASM devices being updated from 2-4-2 SAN/Device Paths, Best Practice??

Storage Community Members,

My SAN Storage Team approached me yesterday with information that the 2 Disk Frame Ports that several of my RAC Clusters(RedHat Enterprise 5/RAC 11.2.0.2) use have high Disk Frame CPU Utilization and they would like to re-path my ASM devices from the 2 overutilized disk frame ports to 2 less utilized disk frame ports.  The current proposal is to scan/add 2 new paths to each ASM device(going from 2 paths to 4paths, then remove the 2 original paths so only the 2 new paths are used to the ASM devices).  Of course, the SAN and Liinux Team are fairly confident this
