Platform migration and database upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 11.x

We are currently running EBS 11.5.10.2 with DB 10.2.0.1 on HPUX 11.11.  For various reasons, we are looking to migrate from HPUX to Linux (Oracle Enterprise Linux), uprgade the DB to 11g, and also upgrade EBS to R12.

First of all, I'm aware that our current database version is not certified to work with our version of the EBS, so I will be upgrading the DB so 10.2.0.4 in the next week or so.

I've been looking at Oracle Doc ID 557738.1 (Export/Import Process for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i Database Instances Using Oracle Database 11g Release 1 or 2).  I'm a bit confused with one of the early paragraphs in the note.
