what is Concurrent Program

 Hi Expert i want to know the basics behind a concurrent program ?? why it is use ??? and why we use to call the various report as the concurrent report ??
i use to run fill employee heirarchy report just after changing the heirarchy and it is also called the concurent report so i just dont understand what is concurrent actually ??
plz also suggest me any note for the basic understanding of this issue ?? thanx
