Missing Archives when using snapshot technology

 We are on 11gR2 and have a 3'rd part snapshot backup tool  to backup our database. Here is the overview of our backup
1) Put database in backup mode.

2) Copy the  volumes  using 3'rd party tool.

3) Alter system Archive log -

4) End the database backup mode -

We have few  missing archive logs  generated between step #1 and Step #4 --  Can we do a cancel based recovery using backup control file, Type  cancel when Oracle asks for missing archives. Can we open the database in reset log mode .
