What kind of application's logic goes in Oracle Service Bus?

Hi all !

We are designing and building a solution for a SOA-enabled architecture. One of the SOA patterns is ESB, and the product we are using is Oracle Service Bus 11g.

One of the applications producers servers is a socket listener. We are deciding if the socket clients of that server will be in the ending consumer applications, or in a mid gateway application that encapsulates some socket client's "logic".

My question is: how much "business" or "connectivity" logic can be installed in the ESB?

I'm supporting the "gateway" way, but there are other people here that says the ESB is high performance and a big 'stuff' that can manage all kind of 'transactions' included some logic.

Howdy, Stranger!
