Oracle Import fails

Importing demo database from software vendor.  Vendor can import the dump file without problem.  I compared NLS configurations.  They are identical.  Please advise.  Thanks

IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1843:

 " ALTER TABLE "LAB_CELL_FACTOR" MODIFY ("EDATE_START" DEFAULT '01-01-1800' )"

IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1843 encountered

ORA-01843: not a valid month
