What would be the reason that -Infinity is getting inserted into the FLOAT(126) column using OCI API

 Hi,
I am using 10g (10.2.0.3) database and client. 

I am using OCI to insert the data into the table having FLOAT(126) column.

When I perform select from the column it started displaying -infinity.

Can u please help me with the reason why -infinity is getting displayed and under which circumstances this behaviour could occur.
