excel footer removed when template is uploaded

We are trying to add a footer in one of our excel templates.  We are able to add the footer in the excel document and select upload and the document uploads without error.  However when we ouput against the excel file we do not get the footer in the excel doc.

Has anyone had this issue?  Let me know if i am in the wrong community.
