BOM : Changing the unit of mesure

Hi,
I'm in 11i and using BOM.

I have an item with two unit of mesure.

Unit (principal) and lot. 1 lot = 10000 unit.

I want to define 2 BOM for the item. 1 BOM for 1 unit and 1 alternate BOM for 1 lot.

When entering the BOM, i cannot change the unit of mesure field. Why ? Is there any setup ?
