Physical Invnetory - exluding inventory types

when performing physical inventory, we would like to exclude 2 inventory classes.  In past years they have been included and needed to be reentered or data loaded.  we would like to find a way to exclude them from the physical inventory cycle.  We know how to do this for cycle counting but don't see a way to do it for physical inventory counting.  Is there any standard functionality, API, other?
