Disk partitions for use with ASM on SOLARIS

Hi everybody
We're installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.3 on a solaris 11/11 (sparc 64) virtual machine.

Preparing pre-requisites for disk partitions we found two notes with different suggestions

Note 368840.1 suggest a disk partitioning similar to this:

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
0 unassigned wm 3 - 51197 100.00GB (51198/0/0) 209707008
1 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
2 backup wu 0 - 51197 100.00GB (51198/0/0) 209707008
3 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
4 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
5 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
6 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0
7 unassigned wm 0 0 (0/0/0) 0

It recommends to leave the two first cylinders of the "0" PARTITION for OS labeling purpose.

But note 1300393.1 suggest we should use partition number six in order to make the disk "discoverable" for ASM

Current partition table (original):
Total disk cylinders available: 37270 + 2 (reserved cylinders)

Howdy, Stranger!
