Cost Group Option Wrongly selected as By Inventory instead of By Projects

Hi

While doing the Project Manufacturing Setup, I committed a mistake of choosing the Cost Group Option as 'By Inventory' instead of 'By Project' for the organization A. Unfortunately one transaction has also happened in it. When i try to change  the Cost group option to 'By Project', i get an error message. Is there a way to rectify this issue or any workaround solution available?

Alternatively, if we rename the org A to B (Setup-> Organization) and end date the existing organization ,and create a new Organiztion of A. What will be its impact.
