what exactly catalog start with 'xxxxxxxx' command will do?

Hi Experts,

     Our RMAN retention policy is 45 days.but control_file_record_keep_time parameter is set to 7 days.

   I am unable to clone with backup pieces which aged 7 days.

   how to solve this issue?

   what exactly catalog start with '/backup/indudb/rmanbkp/' noprompt; will do?

  If i change  control_file_record_keep_time value to 50 can i succeed the clone?

please help.
