Remote_listener

Hi Gurus,

I have a production 11.2.0.3 Oracle Grid infrastructure RAC set up on Linux RHEL5. It is a 3 node RAC and I am using scan name for my connections. Right now remote_listener parameter is not set in the database. Please could you answer my below questions?

1. Is remote_listener parameter mandatory to enable server-side load balancing? 

2. Is there any other method of enabling server-side load balancing other than through the remote_listener parameter ?

3. Right now each instance is only registered with a single SCAN listener. Does it mean that server-side load balancing is not enabled currently ?
