implementation of strategic sourcing and supplier contracts

We are researching the feasibility of implementing Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Contracts.  If anyone can post some insight to the pros and cons of implementing and using these modules I would appreciate it.  I would be interested in knowing the size of the project team, length of time allocated for implementation and if outside consulting help was used and if so, in what capacity.
