Product Currency change

I have a number of already created products that have two prices in them.  One should be UK £ an the other US$ when I create a nrew product no issues.  However some existing products have a £ sign where i want $.  I can change figure but when i try to change the £ to $ is just defults back to £.

Any ideas anyone on how i can change this?
