report9i freezes report server

Hello all, Im having a problem with a report created in reportbuilder 9i and deployed to Oracle portal 9ias report server. The report runs fine on my desktop when I test it, when it is deployed to the report server, it freezes or crashes the server, the report never completes and causes no other reports to run, I then have to stop and restart the server in order to clear it. Is there an exception I can add to the report to kill it after a certain time period or  is there a way I can find out why the
