Weblink Field Display/Active control

Hello,

I created a weblink field on SR record and want to activate it based on a condition. Here's what I tried

Active Link Condition : [<bEmailCRCreateTask_ITAG>]='Y'

Display Link:TRUE

Web Link Target - Open in New Window

Display Ootions :Both

When I create a new record, I check the above flag the link does not get activated untill I save the record. Is it possible to make this control work before saving the record and have the link active based on that flag. Please advise.
