RMAN - backup piece corruption

Hi,

This may be a simple question to most of you.  When we run the RMAN command to backup all the datafiles to a backupset, it completes with success.

But, when I do a VALIDATE BACKUPSET 92, it comes up with an error - block 724427 is corrupt in the backppiece.

Oracle version is 10.2.0.5

My question is - Shouldn't RMAN validate each block of a datafile before it backs it up to a backupset ?
