Solaris 8 - Jumbo Frames

We updated our bay to use jumbo frames and now our Themis board will not boot. The Themis board boots using rarpd and bootparamd. it mounts a RHEL 5.7 server to download it's SOLKERN file, but as soon as it tries to mount, it hangs and doesn't recover. If we run with MTU 1500, we don't see the issue.

I'm wondering if the installation of Solaris 8 onto the Themis board does not support the jumbo frame configuration? Once the install is complete (using MTU 1500), then I can enable jumbo frames and the Solaris works just fine. It's only a issues during the installation.
