For DFM in Agile PLM - Is it better to have same vault/separate vault if the appserver are in the sa

We are in a process of adding an additional file manager to the system.

So is it better to have separate vault or same vault if we have the FM in the same location/LAN.

Now if you would question why DFM in the same location we need to have this because of an issue with external users accessing the FM.

And suppose if we have a FM in another location do we need to sync the FM vault using some utilities(RoboCopy).
