custom plugin: trigger gathering response metric after running job to shutdown target

Hello.  Not sure if this is the right forum.  I've developed a custom plugin for OEM 11.  The plugin contains a jobtype to shutdown some custom software.  After the job runs, the target doesn't show as down for a while.  That is, after the job runs, I'd like the stauts of the target to show as down.  Does anyone know how to trigger the collection of the Response metric at the end of a job?
