Millions of Records in WSH_EXCEPTIONS

I have worked over 10 Service Requests in the last 6 months in which the issue was that there are millions of records in the WSH_EXCEPTIONS table.   Many exceptions are of type "information only" and are easily overlooked; but if this table is not purged regularly, its size may grow to 50 million or more records.  When this table gets this large,  performance of various Shipping Execution functions may be degraded (for example, Pick Release or Interface Trip Stop),  and unless you have unlimited storage resources,  you may find that 50% or more of your disk space is consumed by
