Does oracle 11.2 support Virtual IP of a machine rather than physical IP address

Team,

Does oracle 11.2 support Virtual IP of a machine rather than physical IP address? Using the machine physical IP address connecting to the DB using the listener worked

fine. I replaced the physical IP address with the Virtual IP of the machine, When I tried to connect to  the DB using the listener I got the following error:

ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor

Does oracle 11.2 support Virtual IP of a machine rather than physical IP address?
