Purging Audit trail information

Hi Team,
We have a lot of audit trail information captured and we want it to be purged. Can we purge the audit trail information separately and still retain the business objects? For instance, we have 70 audit trail records stored for a shipment. We just want to get rid of the audit trail by purging them and still retain the shipment. Is it possible to purge that way or we can purge audit trail only along with the shipment?
