Recovery Catalog in Primary DB

Hi,
I may very well be lambasted for asking this question...

Does any body out there put their Recovery Catalog for their Primary Production Database in their Primary Production Database?

Our Prod DB has a remote site Physical Standby and I was thinking that with the recovery catalog in the primary DB it would also be available from the standby site should we ever require it.
When I say available from the Standby I mean that we could use it as a snapshot standby to retrieve relevant info etc...

Am I just cutting corners and should I just create a separate Recovery Catalog DB?
