Terminate Employee Assignment?

 hi

i want to terminate an employees assignment, but it says that i cannot terminate primary assignments, so when i try changing the assignments status, the status is reset back to active. are there any others ways to terminate an employees assignment?
or, how can i change the employees organisation in the assignment form back to the business group?, tried this and the system loads like forever and does not return anything.
