VTCS v6.2 dynamic resetting of conmvc possible?

Hi...am very very new to the mainframe storage environment. Forgive me for asking this vtcs 101 question.

We run hsc/smc/vtcs v6.2 and vsm 5.0 on our mainframes

We have a daily batch job that does mvcdrains on mvcs.  Some days the job runs and finishes in less than an hour...some days it runs for 20+hours!

When the job is running forever, an issue of ^VT D Q Detail shows many many mvcdrains queued..and depending on how many vtvs are on each determines if this its going to be an all day sucker or not.
