Updating Delivery Attribute via Mobile Server/Scanner

My client has a requirement to add a Returnable Container Serial Number in the LPN Level during shipment proces.  In most cases they may not have RC Serial # until it's time to start scanning item bar codes.  The RC Serial # is required in the EDI DSNO/856.  I opened a Shipping Execution >  Additional Delivery Detail Information Attribute and titled it RC Serial Number. At this point I though of creating a Value Set to have user select from LOV, but unsure how many possible Serial Numbers could occur. 

Question is can this Delivery_Detail_attribute2 be populated with the RC Serial Number using the Scanner when shipping clerk creating the shipment and LPN?  Or would they just have to update in the shipping transactions form?
