Migrating 50+ TB Database to ASM

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions/ideas for migrating a 50+ terbayte database from filesystem to ASM?  I've read the Oracle Support article where you use RMAN to copy your database to a new location. Seems way too simple - it would probably take days for RMAN to copy our entire database to the new location.  Is there a way to slowly migrate from filesystem to ASM?  Does anyone have any real world experience in doing so?
