Serial Number Received as Space

We had a serial number received into inventory as a space.  Not a leading or trailing space, but just a space with nothing else.  I had a datafix that could be used to fix trailing and leading spaces, but I do not think it will work in this case.  Any ideas on how to correct this serial number?  Thanks.
