Flex Accounting vs. Subledger

Hi,

I'd like to clarify, what's the difference between flex accounting and subledgers? When to use one over the other one?

I know it's a broad question, but any help clarifying these two features will be greatly appreciated. It would also help me if you could suggest any documentation on this topic.
