6140 and CAM 6.9 disapointment/heads up

I updated CAM from 6.8.1.4 to 6.9 plus 147660-04 and 147419-02 in support of a 6140.  I was very disappointed to find that I can no longer update controller and IOM firmware independent of the disk firmware.
